Peer Support at Purple Prosthetics
Peer Mentorship, Education, and Community for Amputees in Nigeria
At Purple Prosthetics, we understand that losing a limb is more than just a physical change it’s an emotional, mental, and social shift that can feel overwhelming. That’s why we’ve created something truly unique in Nigeria: an Amputee Peer Support Program built into the heart of our rehabilitation process.
We are proud to be the only prosthetic center in Nigeria offering this kind of structured, in-house support where amputees who have successfully gone through their rehabilitation journey with us return to guide and uplift those who are just beginning theirs.
Real People. Real Stories. Real Hope.
Through our peer mentorship program, new amputees connect with mentors who truly understand because they’ve lived it. These are real people who know what it’s like to navigate stump care, body image, mobility training, and social reintegration. Whether you’re wondering how to walk again with a prosthesis, face loved ones after amputation, or return to work, our mentors offer not just encouragement, but genuine perspective and practical advice.
Mental Health Matters
Beyond peer support, we believe mental health is central to recovery not an afterthought. That’s why we provide access to a licensed in-house clinical psychologist, a rare and vital part of our rehabilitation approach.
Our psychologist works closely with both new and experienced amputees to:
Address trauma and anxiety after amputation
Build resilience and self-confidence
Provide coping strategies for social reintegration
Offer one-on-one and group therapy sessions
At Purple, we don’t just focus on the limb we care for the whole person.
A Supportive Community for Amputees in Nigeria
Our amputee support community includes:
Peer mentorship with trained amputee volunteers
Educational workshops and webinars
Group sessions and community meetups
One-on-one psychological support
Access to helpful resources about prosthetic use, lifestyle changes, and emotional wellness
We’re breaking the silence around limb loss and reshaping how rehabilitation is done in Nigeria. Through education, compassionate care, and community, we help each individual find strength, hope, and purpose after amputation.
